Abu Dhabi launches non-stop express bus service

The Department of Municipalities and Transport’s Integrated Transport Center (ITC) has announced the launch of the “Abu Dhabi Express” service which provides rapid bus transport across the emirate to private sector operators.

The Abu Dhabi Express is a direct non-stop bus service, making its routes the fastest means of transportation, allowing passengers to get to their destination quickly, conveniently and safely.

The service will be made available to passengers in two phases, the first of which will include Musaffah Industrial Zone and the city of Mohamed Bin Zayed, and the second will include the city of Khalifa, Bani Yas, Al Shahama, Al Falah and other areas according to passenger needs. , connecting these areas directly to Abu Dhabi City through four direct operating routes.

In the second phase, ITC will add five new roads in various neighborhoods of Al Ain that provide direct and rapid service in the city, namely Al Hiyar, Al Faqa, Sweihan, Al Shiwayb, Nahil, Abu Samra, Al Wiqan and Al Qou’a areas. The number of trips provided by the new bus service is 680 each week.

The Abu Dhabi Express services will all use the Abu Dhabi City Main Bus Station as the point of arrival and will include the E-01 service from Abu Dhabi Industrial City (ICAD) to Musaffah, the E-02 service, direct from Musaffah, while E-03 service will operate from Musaffah city bus station and finally E-04 service, which will depart from Safeer Mall in Khalifa City.

The Abu Dhabi Express service will officially launch on Monday, March 14, 2022 and will be available from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays, and from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on weekends and public holidays. It will run between destinations every ten minutes during peak times and every 25 minutes maximum outside peak times.

The first phase of Abu Dhabi’s express services will be operated by Al Ghazal Transport Company and Emirates Taxi, as part of ITC’s strategic partnership with the private sector to improve and expand public transport services. The companies bought 64 buses to provide the new service.

The launch of the service cements the public-private partnership by providing more investment opportunities for companies that operate public transport services. It will also strengthen the role of the private sector in improving the bus transport network, which serves ITC’s objectives of providing an integrated and sustainable transport service that facilitates the mobility of residents, visitors and tourists while supporting the local business environment and improving the quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

ITC has introduced this new service as part of its commitment to provide express, convenient and safe transportation services to passengers and save their time and effort. The Abu Dhabi Express service will also improve integration between public bus services and increase the overall capacity of the bus network.

The “Abu Dhabi Express” service also aims to organize and eliminate haphazard and unauthorized methods of transit, which will provide sustainable transportation services across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
