The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has stopped the collection of vehicle entry fees (VEF) by cantonment councils.
In a notification, the Defense Ministry said: “It is observed that the collection of vehicle entry fees by cantonment councils installing collection barricades / nakas / kiosks is not in line with the initiative of the government for the smooth flow of goods and traffic, and hinders efforts to make life easier and the ease of doing business.
“It was therefore decided that the collection of vehicle entry fees by the cantonment councils would be immediately stopped. be considered appropriate, ”the notification adds.
“It is requested to give the necessary instructions to the cantonment councils to immediately halt the collection of vehicle entry fees and a compliance report should be sent to the ministry on an immediate basis,” he added.
Meanwhile, the VEF was arrested from Sunday at Pune’s Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) and Pune Cantonment.
Speaking to Twitter, Shivajinagar MP Siddharth Shirole said that the citizens of Pune have long paid extra fees even when traveling within the city limits. “I hope @Olacabs, @UberINSupport and other taxi service providers and aggregators update the same in their back-end immediately,” he added.
