DURBAN – An emailed taxi driver carrying a passenger on M13 Fields Hill, west of Durban, rolled down an embankment on Tuesday evening.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said search and rescue services from Durban Metro Police, Ethekwini Fire and Rescue, RescueTech and SAPS were also present at the scene.
He said Netcare 911 responded to a collision.
“Reports indicate that the driver of an e-hailing taxi with an occupant on board lost control, resulting in a rollover on an embankment,” he said.
Herbst said medics assessed the scene and found that the driver suffered moderate injuries, while the passenger suffered no injuries.
“A rope and basket rescue system was put in place to retrieve the driver from the bottom of the hill,” he said.
He said that once treated and stabilized, the driver was taken by private ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
