LG will transform its parking lot with transparent OLED screens

LG Display has teamed up with Kakao Mobility, the Korean taxi company, to create a smart parking lot in Seoul, using its transparent OLED screens.

Located at the Trade Tower in the city’s Gangnam district, which welcomes more than 40 million visitors each year, the car park will create a differentiated parking service that will not only provide comfort to visitors, but also experiences that will make a deep impression. .

The 55-inch transparent OLED display panels will be installed at the six entrances to the parking lot from the mall. These will cover the existing glass walls, creating effects and illusions without taking up space or distracting customers.

These designs will be interactive and customers will be able to experience a range of entertaining content, adding a futuristic touch to the parking lot.

The self-emissive nature of the screen and the absence of backlighting allows for 40% transparency as well as a thin, light and flexible design. These displays have already been installed in shop windows and train stations, and LG Display is already working on implementing the panels in self-driving cars, airplanes and on household furniture.

“LG Display will continue to redefine the concept of spatial design with its industry-leading Transparent OLED by delivering key information and entertaining content to passers-by with a difference,” said Cho Min-Woo, Head of Transparent OLED Business at LG. Display.
