Ethel Vida Vaughn of Moore, Oklahoma, died of this life on October 22, 2021 at the age of 94. Ethel was born in Hinton, Oklahoma to Harry Clarence Waller and Flossie Zoe Duncan-Waller on June 3, 1927.
Ethel grew up on a farm in eastern Oklahoma. She attended Checotah Schools, where she met the love of her life, Lee Vaughn. Lee and Ethel were married in 1944 in a ceremony in Checotah, Oklahoma. Together they had two children, Michele and Steve. Ethel worked in the school cafeteria in Checotah until Steve was in grade 5. She then worked as a dispatcher for a taxi service, as well as Dolly Madison for a time when her children were still young.
Ethel was an intelligent and determined woman who was always thirsty for education. Ethel loved to remember her family history and was proud to be a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She returned to college in her 50s and received her BA in Sociology from Central State University (now known as UCO). She also got her real estate license later in life. After the death of her sweetheart, Lee, in 1995, she lived independently. She loved to travel, especially abroad, and she took a lot of trips with her friend Nancy Westfall after both AB and Lee passed away. She also enjoyed spending time outside in her garden. Ethel has had a positive impact on many people throughout her life, and everyone who knew and loved her will be sadly missed.
She was predeceased by her parents, Flossie and Harry Waller, her beloved husband, Lee R. Vaughn, as well as her siblings Nedra, Lou Vee and Robert.
Ethel is survived by her children, Michele Manning and her husband Jeff, as well as her son Steve and his wife Susan; his grandchildren, Steve Vaughn Jr. and his wife Rhana, LaVaila Williams and her husband John, Joe Vaughn and his wife Andrea, Sarah Starner and her husband Zak, Glenn Mock and his wife Kris, Jeff Mock and his wife Karen, and Thomas Manning and his wife Summer; great-grandchildren Shelby, Logan, Junior, Jake, Landon, Camryn, Tinlee, Brynlee, Aleighsi, Madaline, Shawn, Alex, Cody, Zack, Kinsley, Cade, Camden and Allie; as well as three great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
