Southampton bride breaks down after Radio Taxis no-show

A BRIDE has been left in tears after a taxi driver failed to show up on her wedding day.

Kayleigh Andrews was stranded at her Millbrook home with her bridesmaids and father when a Mercedes booked through Radio Taxis failed to show up.

The car, booked by her parents two months before her big day, was to pick her up from Mansel Road and take her to Westgate Hall where her fiancé James was waiting.

But as the minutes passed, the bride-to-be started to get nervous with no sign of the cab.

What was supposed to be the perfect day at the Westgate Hall site turned into Kayleigh’s worst nightmare.

The 21-year-old said: “I expected them to come and get me, but they never did.”

With no other option, Kayleigh’s bridesmaid and sister Sophie, 29, decided to drive her to the wedding venue instead.

She added: “I was seething with anger and my whole family was furious.Daily Echo: Kayleigh's mum broke down after hearing car never arrived Kayleigh’s mum broke down after hearing the car never arrived

“It was the worst thing that could happen to a bride.”

Fortunately, Kayleigh was able to marry her husband only a few minutes late.

Simon May, CEO of Radio Taxis, said he was absolutely “devastated” by what happened on the couple’s big day.

He said: “Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the driver assigned to the ride dropped us at the last minute without notice.

“We tried everything we could to get another driver to the pickup as quickly as possible, but failed.”

Southampton Taxi Service sent a £100 voucher to James and Kayleigh for the inconvenience.

However, Kayleigh replied: “I appreciate their apologies and understand that mistakes happen. But nothing can change what I’ve been through.

“In the end, it affected me again and ruined the start of a very special day.”

The happy couple tied the knot on Friday June 17 at Westgate Halls, surrounded by their loved ones and set off on their honeymoon in Malta.
