Taxi driver robbed at gunpoint | criminality


Police are asking the public to locate a man who robbed a taxi driver at gunpoint in the 1100 block of Neal Street in the Cedar Brook area Thursday night.

Officers responded around 9 p.m. and discovered that a woman, who works for a local taxi company, received a phone call for the service and was victimized once she reached the destination, the spokesperson of the police, Cpl. Ricky Jackson told Telegram in an email Friday night.

According to Jackson, the thief got into the back seat of the vehicle, brandished a gun, took the woman’s purse and drove off in an unknown direction.

The woman was not injured, Jackson said.

The thief was described as black, dark complexioned, 5ft 4in to 5ft 6in tall, slim in build and weighing 120 to 140lbs, Jackson said.

And Jackson said the thief was wearing a burgundy coat with fur on the hooded part of the coat, a black hat and a black mask.
