Taxi driver shot dead after road rage in northern St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — Road rage led a man to shoot a taxi driver Monday afternoon in northern St. Louis.

Police say a gunman shot a taxi driver in the arm around 2:30 p.m. Monday in the 3000 block of Thomas Street in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood.

The victim told police he was traveling near the intersection of Thomas Street and Webster Avenue when he got into a verbal argument with a man driving a fancy Dodge Durango. According to the police, the suspect drove off, but turned around. As he drove on the other side of the road, he allegedly fired several shots at the victim.

Investigators say the victim returned fire and shot the suspect once, although it is unclear if the suspect was hit. The suspect left the scene after gunshots. The victim is hospitalized, although the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening at this time.
