POLICE investigating a road collision, in which an elderly pedestrian was seriously injured, asked the driver involved to come forward.
A 76-year-old man was walking in Collingwood Gardens, near its junction with Kettlewood Terrace in North Shields, when he was hit by a cab at around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday.
The taxi driver stopped at the scene and attended to the retiree, before driving him to North Tyneside General Hospital, on Rake Lane, North Shields, and escorting him to the accident and emergency reception.
Police said the victim, who sustained serious injuries, did not know the identity of the driver who took him to hospital, so investigators called on him to come forward.
Officers would like to speak to the driver as part of their collision investigations.
He is urged to contact police through the Northumbria Force’s “Tell Us Something” page, or by calling 101, citing reference NP-20211006-0335.
