This flying car transforms from a sports car to a plane in 3 minutes

A team of up to eight people has been working on the prototype since 2017, according to Klein Vision co-founder Anton Zajac, totaling around 100,000 man-hours.

The AirCar made its first intercity flight in June last year, flying from Nitra International Airport, Slovakia to Bratislava International Airport, Slovakia. The flight lasted a total of 35 minutes.

After arriving, the AirCar then transformed into a sports car and was driven by Zajac, alongside the inventor of the AirCar, Professor Stefan Klein, to downtown Bratislava.

The AirCar is not limited to airfields. It can take off and land anywhere as long as the property owner gives permission, according to Zajac.

The current model can travel up to 370 miles, cruising at 140 miles per hour. According to Zajac, a new production model will have a range of around 630 miles.

The AirCar is powered by a 1.6 liter BMW engine and runs on fuel sold at any gas station.

The dual-mode vehicle is also equipped with a ballistic parachute in the event of an emergency incident or engine failure.

The models weigh 1,100 kilograms and can hold two people. Zajac told Insider that the company plans to introduce a three-seat model, as well as an amphibious version.
